-noun
a person or thing of peerless beauty or excellence; paragon.
a person or thing that has become renewed or restored after suffering calamity or apparent annihilation and to rise from its ashes in the freshness of youth and live through another cycle of years: often an emblem of immortality or of reborn idealism or hope.

This meaning appears to fit my S6 well.

I've been 'tinkering' around with my second S6 for about a year now and I feel that I want to take it to the next level.

I have already done a lot of work to it, but I won't spend a fortune getting it where I would like it.

Work carried out so far by yours truly:
HID's
Fitted the headlight washers from my other S6 onto this one.
Front pads and discs
Rear pads and discs
Forge DV
K&N air filter
RS2 Competition turbo re-worked by MTM (this was on the other S6)
MTM remapped ECU with 3.0 Map Bar Sensor (this was on the other S6)
Wastegate (this was on the other S6)
Rear wishbone bushes
Rear wishbone to subframe bushes
Rear anti roll bar bushes
Front top mounts (easiest job I've ever done)
Regular servicing
Painted some parts of the engine.
Replaced the spark plugs (twice).
Lambda probe
Brink towbar
Major clean up of the paint work (Megs clay bar, Scratch X, Megs stages 1,2,3, Menzerna Final Finish and Collinite)
Interior clean up
New stereo with seperate removeable sub and amp in the rear
Knock sensors
Thermostat
Water hose pipe
Turbo hose
Oil pressure sensor
MFTS
WGFV
Air box cover
Rear engine plastic cover
Tailgate trim (inside)
4 wheel tracking (done by Audi)
new tyres Rolling Eyes
Roof lining (from the other S6)
Sealed the sunroof shut with tiger seal (it leaked, drastic measure I know)
4 rings door vinyl
'quattro' and 'mtm' window stickers
Did have a rear tailgate MTM chrome badge but this was nicked
Removed the later style S6 rear badge, have an old school one but have yet to fit it
New S6 front grill badge

Thats about all I can remember for now....

Pics and work in progress/planned to follow

Worked planned

The 2 standard cats. are restricting the power flow, so 3" stainless steel straight through from the turbo back lose both OEM cats. and the one to two downpipe and just having 1 HJS race cat fitted – work being done by Dahlback Racing next week.

I need to change the coil packs as the insulating has failed in places, this is resulting in a misfire/dead spot when you try to accelerate from 100mph - nothing, coughs, farts then takes off (bit like my bowels Laughing Laughing )

FMIC
RS2 or better exhaust manifold
Rust around the sunroof
Rear bumper clips have broken on one side
New gear nob (ordered)
Stitching required to the driver’s seat
Front and rear bumpers need attention, possibly a re-spray
Cambelt is well over due for a change (parts have been ordered)
Alloys are shagged
Carbon fiber trim

Cheers Jas, Owen
Very Happy

I haven't touched the bumpers yet - tomorrow I'll have a bash at them, along with the roof
Also I haven't applied the Collinite yet, weathers been a bit hit and miss

For your manifold, I'd seriously consider a wagner cast RS2 type manifold.
Tubular ones can crack if not supported, this new manifold from wagner is also sold through 034 in the US. Problem with a real deal RS2 mainifold is two fold, seriously expensive new and secondhand is a lottery getting a one that's not cracked.
Gets rave reviews on the german sites and S2 forum.
Wagner are also developing a bolt on FMIC kit without the need for butchering bumpers.

>>> Linky

Glad you guys are finding the pro's of the RA polishers, it's no dark art when you have the correct gear. Top results Mark.

Cheers for the tip regarding the manifold.

The FMIC I saw on 034's website, mininal cutting out required on the bumper - if I screw up I've got a spare in the cellar Laughing

The Megs G220 is a great piece of kit, although I could do with some decent pads

Also I found some really good stand alone coil packs which allow you to use the original cover

Really looking forward to visiting Dahlback and getting the new exhaust fitted Very Happy

034 sell the standalone coilpack kit, high output or something. Early kits delivered from 034 suffered from failures due to wrongly made looms, but I believe that's sorted now. Not to be confused with the kit they, and others, sell using the 1.8T coilpacks.

Speaking of the 1.8T coilpack route, and 'll court controversy by saying this, but the 1.8T route is really a compromise that I'd not take. You have to run with the coilpack cover off or they'll fry themselves to death, also they are prone to failure anyway, chasing part number revisions and so on.

A couple of US based chaps are currently building a kit of standalone coils using them from a Monaro or Corvette. Not finished yet though.

When I replaced mine, I thought long and hard. Immediately ruled out the 1.8T's as I couldn't be arsed with the associated hassle, then ruled out the high output ones from 034 as after purchase and shipping, they weren't a great deal cheaper than 5 new OEM Beru coils from Marty with discount. As the 034 haven't yet been fitted to any car that has done well over 100k miles, I didn't know how long they'd last.
At least with the OEM ones they lasted 160k miles on my S2 before needing to be replaced, and even then it wasn't a failure of the coilpacks themselves, but the wiring to them degrading.

The only plus point I could see with the standalone versions, was that they got rid of the POS's.

Jase..

Cheers Guys,

Will be sending Dahlback another email asking about the exhaust (diagram, grade of stainless to be used etc)

Coil packs, def. will not be installing the 1.8T ones.
Sneak preview....

According to the spill:
"Looking for the ultimate plug and play ignition solution for your UrS4 or RS2? Its here.

Running 5 of our ultra High Output 034EFI DIS coils with built in 20 amp drivers, this kit is the ultimate coil upgrade for any of the Motronic equipped distributorless cars such as the RS2, UrS4, etc. These coils have been tested on motors with more than 300 HP/Liter and fire effortlessly with over 60-80,000 volts of energy.

Very reliable, overbuilt coils, never deal with coil failures again.
Most importantly, this kit completely eliminate the failure prone stock Power Output Stages (POS)!
Includes full plug and play wiring harness so no cutting or splicing required.
Typically coils can be mounted along the firewall behind the motor, high quality 8mm plug wire set with long leads ensures flexible mounting options."

Just found something else that I've had to add to the 'to do list'.
Expansion tank needs changing, the overflow pipe has snapped off Rolling Eyes
But I have a spare in the cellar Very Happy

Have a shed load of parts ready to pick up from Audi.

Have also changed quite a few blown dashboard bulbs, also I need to drain then fill up with new hydrolic fluid still getting this flashing (!) in red, been like it a year now so I ain't too fussed (passed last years MOT with it).

If you want stuff from 034 at better prices quicker delivery on s2forum there is a guy called nononsense who is now sponsering the site, I know alot of people who have used him and I will be using him as well for mine.

Projects coming along nicely, makes a change to see someone keeping one on the road unlike audibits who enjoys stripping them.
