I'm not wrecking anything, but It'd be good to know what you need as someone may just have the part(s) you need.

Still available via VW Heritage

https://www.vwheritage.com/vw.cfm?act=vwclassicParts.search&classicSearchText=894422893J&country=GB&lang=EN

Pirtek really are branch dependent. If they won't do it, there will be a hydraulic hose specialist in your area that will likely be able to help.

Will be a lot less than £150

mike do you know if that part number 25 in that diagram is this part number I gave, because after looking I think this part number refers to the 5 cylinder which is different to the 4 cylinder

any ideas on a rough price if you had to guess £50 £100 etc

cheers for finding the part aswell Very Happy

I am not sure whether the 2.0 litre engine had a different power steering pump from the B3 5 cylinder 2.3 Litre, but the hose I think you are looking for runs from the pump outlet to the steering rack [ has the pig tail twirl at the rack end ?]

But................... have you tried Audibit2 in Lockerbie ? very helpful guy always breaking coupes etc and advertises on ebay.............. Michael tel 07809 222346

hope this helps

There are two choices for the 4 cyl 8v depending on chassis number

894 422 893 H for cars up to chassis 8A-M-054849

or 894 422 893 P for cars from chassis 8A-M-54850 onwards

Thanks for the offer but I think ive definitely narrowed it down now to the 5 cylinder not fitting as much as it would be a million times easier if it did

thanks a lot mike a chap on classic-audi has one if needed but the car is being picked up tomorrow and the hose is going to a hydraulics place in Paignton

the garage rekon that the hose will cost between £20 - £40

ok so had that the pipe replaced to today for £40 ( new hose with old connectors ) from hydraulic place in Paignton.

Problem now is after picking the car up today from the garage the steering is really loud like a groaning sound when turning at idle and if the engine is reved when turning it whines even louder. theres also a slight grinding noise and feel coming through the steering wheel and column.

the fluid they put in was COMA MVCHF central hydraulic fluid

suitable for applications requiring CHF11S and CHF202

it wasent like this before so any ideas what they done wrong before I take it back tomorrow

cheers

there's normally a restrictor on one of the hoses.

I'd recommend trying to get a good 2nd hand hose

Congratulations on your new arrival btw

ok quick update -

the hose was taken off the car and the garage think that it is because when the new pipe was built the hydraulic place didn't put in the constrictive part from my old pipe. As a result when the engine is reved the pressure through the system goes up and the part in question stops this from happening and keeps the pressure constant hense why it is quiet at idle

The hydraulics place have disposed of my old pipe so now im stuck until I can find a 2nd hand one.

Lets face it ive probably got more chance of winning the lottery before I find this part

so if anyone knows of anyone breaking a 4 cylinder audi 80 B3 can you let me know cheers
