Hi folks,
I came across this 1994 B4 Audi 80 TDi for sale locally. It only has 70k miles on the clock (reflected in the condition of the car) and has had the belts, discs, pads and flexi hoses all replaced in the last month. It's taxed and tested to September. The car is very tidy and original (apart from the alloys). Here are some photos:
The seller wants £1100 for the car and he's not budging. Is this too much or good value? Also, are there any known weaknesses with the Tdi's of this vintage that I should look out for in? All opinions welcome!
Thanks in advance. |

sounds very reasonable to me by the looks of things.
Diesels will go on for a good 200k mileage wise.
id just check condition underneath, fuel lines brake lines etc for rust, suspension wear. Thats where the wear will be.
Quite steep for the age, some coupe's go for that money, but then again it looks in very good nick. |

Hi Dez,
Ta for the quick reply. My thoughts exactly. You get what you pay for, I guess. I just need a reliable daily runner for work as I'm building a house at the minute and every pound is a prisoner. Had to sell the 2.6 in my signature a while back as it was my week-end toy (and my bike ) but hey, this way I'll be back in the good old 80 again!
If I had another spare £1000, I know of a B4 2.6 coupe for sale with 101k! |

If its got a full service history(or lots of paper work) and no accident damage, I'd say its worth a grand, considering the long MOT and Tax. Give it a drive see how it feels, looks nice and solid to me as are most 80 TDI's, having a TDI estate myself. |

You're right, the proof is in the pudding. I'm hoping to view tomorrow afternoon. I'll keep you posted. He won't shift in the price, mind. Thing is, they don't come up often in that condition and we're not spoilt for choice here in Northern Ireland compared to mainland UK. (I went to Manchester for my 2.6 - but the drive back was worth it - scorching hot day in May driving down the coast to Holyhead listening to that V6!) |

I think I may have found my week-ender too. Would make a perfect match with the TDi:

These things must come in pairs. What's the saying about the London buses again? |

Guy's, I had a brief look around this 20v cq the other night (a bit by accident) and had a chat to the guy. He has a set of 16" 80 competition alloys for it as well (I'd personally prefer them). H'es looking around £1200 but I'd say he could be talked to.
Also has a 2.6 B4 coupe for sale, again looks tidy enough for £1k. He's been looking for an S2 avant for a while (and I happened to drive into his yard in one ) which is why he's selling the 20v cq. |

Its certainly clean looking on the ad - albeit a small res pic. The V6 is down to £895 now - quite a bargain really.
If you ever hear of a minty C20VQ or an S2 locally... PM me. I reckon I'll never settle till I own one of them. Finances probably dictate that a 2OVQ is the sensible option of the two. |

Had to llaugh i was just browsing the site, when i saw your post, i bought that car
The car is no minter but straight and clean, the back shocks are done, and there is a crunch in third gear, my fault as i did not test drive it, the car has 1500 miles on it since i bought it, had the filters/oil changed, the power steering belt squeels from time to time, so that needs done. can anyone tell me where the tuning box would fit on this car? any photos would be great |

Ha.. small world huh Did you buy it off the seller in Banbridge? It'd been in Waringstown before that briefly - and thats where I spotted it. Nice low miles.
As for your tuning box woes... sorry... not an idea!
How do you find the car? I'm driving something modern as a daily driver - but often wonder whether I should save a fortune and turn to a 80 Tdi. Theres an avant at the top of my road thats minty - and I look on with envy at the 'bangernomics' of it all |

Yeah, i like it, i sold my A2, even though it was a nice car and low miles, i could start to see the value go down, so i sold it, now i dont have to worry where i park, or loosing any money on it!! |
