My drivers door mirror heater doesn't work so I've just ordered a new one off ebay (£7.99 plus P&P). I changed the passenger side a few months ago (after the wife decided it need to hit something) but this time I want to replace a good mirror and keep it for spare (yes, the wife drives the car a lot!). Any suggestions on how to remove it without cracking the glass? It's a '52 Avant.

I was just looking for the best way to prise the old glass out without breaking it. That link seems to assume it's already out.

Re-read it. Wink

1/ Turn your mirrors toward the ground so you can have more room to pop the mirror out.

2/ When popping the mirror out try not to focus pulling it at one corner. Try to pull it along the top. Don't be too afraid to use a bit of force to pull it out.

3/ Once removed, unplug the wires. Place your mirrors some place safe so they don't get scratched.

So, what are the chances of me getting the old mirror off in one piece Laughing
Well, as long as I don't break the new one I'm putting in I'll be happy.

Getting the glass out isn't difficult if you follow the above tips, be firm but gentle!
