Heater Matrix Issues

Hiya team,I have read all the bits posted on the matrix issues and the heater only working on full when the matrix isn't working properly. After I bought the car the heart fan went and broke on me so I replaced it but even after changing the fuse wouldn't work. So I duly replaced the matrix and for 3 days it worked perfectly. I was so chuffed but then it stopped working apart from on the highest blower setting???? Grrrr any ideas??

The motor is a 95 2.6 coupe

only working on one speed is usually the resistor pack.

It sits on top of the interior fan housing

Remove the glove box and find the motor (you should know where it is) You will see the resister, I would imagine that is at fault.

The heater motor has a small resistor *pack* associated with it. Each of the lower speeds has a different value resistor to drop a different amount of voltage.
If only the 'flat out' speed works, it usually means that the thermal fuse attached to the resistor pack has failed. It looks like a silver bullet, with a wire coming out of each end.
With care the fuse can be replaced - they don't solder very well!
However, the fuse probably failed because the fan motor itself is getting a bit 'sticky' and harder to turn, resulting in a higher than usual current.
I haven't been able to strip the fan motor to clean and lubricate the bearings - you may be more competent.
