Hi guys, I really hope someone can help. I have A 1996 Audi cabriolet with a manual roof.

So the procedure to open the roof is as follows

Key in the ignition and turn on
switch by the hand brake drops all the windows
pull down and twist the handle by the rear view mirror and the roof releases.
lift up the rear of roof and press the switch inside drivers door to release bit where the roof folds into
fold down roof, job done

However today this is not working, this is what is happening now

Key in ignition and turn on
The switch by the handbrake does not drop the windows
When you pull down and twist the handle it only turns a tiny bit and the roof is still locked in place.

I really hope someone can understand what i am saying i have no idea what to do.

Thank you so much for reading Xx

Owning an auto roof car I'm not entirely sure how different the systems are apart from the obvious stuff, but you could start by checking fuse 12, and just clarify that when the handbrake is on the light is lit on the dash board. One of the things I fixed when I got mine was the switch that detects the handbrake is on. I assume the manual roof does the same thing. The fuse mentioned is the one shown in the roof circuit diagrams, and if it is blown could affect the operation of the circuits you've got problems with if my assessment is correct. Pictures of the fuse box cover online seem to suggest this fuse being fault would knock out the roof mechanism.

If you can read wiring diagrams take a look at this site. The roof and electric windows one show the automatic roof wiring but I'd hope that the manual roof is mostly a subset of these.
