i am looking to buy a used A4 avant but require isofix anchor points for 2 child seats, i can only find that they come as standard on all new cars but i want to know what year did they first come as standard? this will help me avoid any wasted time when looking.
thanks to any of you with large knowledge of audis in advance that can help. |

Welcome to the forum
I've never been able to find an accurate answer to that question, but what I do know is to retrofit them taken ten mins and costs £40 for the parts.
I've got a how to guide somewhere if you're interested. |

I can second that!
I bought a new A6, and this has 3 Isofix points, and retrofitted the bits to my wife's A4, so we can use the casr seat in both cars.

thanks for your help, i think that the isofix system is fantastically secure, both seats that i've had that use it have been absolutely rock solid.
do you buy the retrofit parts from audi directly? is the retrofit guide online or have you got it in hard copy only?
all i've got to do then is find my self a nice clean example that hasn't been to the moon and back mileage wise. |

Yeah, I definitely agree! Don't really like the seatbelt variety...
I can make up a Word Doc guide for you, but it's dead easy. My computer got a virus a while back, so my references went with that when I formatted it!
I fitted one to the rear seat. You can fix one to the front, but it's more complicated, and you will need to fit an airbag deactivation switch.
You will need the Isofix bracket from Audi. They are handed so you will need to order the specific side. You will also need two bolts, and you can get two guides (they're plastic sleeves that guide the car seat into place). You should also get two plastic seat squab clips as they are designed to break upon removing.
Part numbers:
Bracket: (Passenger side rear) 8E0 813 545 A
Bolt: (Quantity 2) WHT 001 230
Isofix Sleeve: (Quantity 2) 8L0 887 233
Seat Clips: (Quantity 2) 4B0 886 373 01 C
Check that these are correct for your car though!
Then you just pop the front edge of the rear seat base upwards, and then this slots out. The holes are pre drilled, and tapped. Just place the bracket in place and bolt it in. I need to check the torque settings for you. Then, just replace the plastic seat clips at the leading edge of the squab, and slot the seatbelt end in, line up the clips, and push the seat down!
Regards

As for cost, all the above cost £51.38 (and I doubled up on the sleeves, and bought 4, for both cars)
Also just to clarify, these parts are for the B6 (2001 - 2004) shape, but I think this will apply to the B7. These parts won't apply to the current B8 shape, but Isofix should be standard.
As for mileage, don't shy away from a high miler TDi, provided it's been looked after. My A4 has 103k on the clock, and feels factory fresh!

just an update on this, I order the parts at my local audi dealer, £47 for one side and installed myself. I've got a B6 A4 Avant with folding rear seats, all told took me less than 10 mins to install, my sons seat is now safely anchored to the chassis. A result my wife and I are very happy with, unlike the football today.
Thanks for all the help and advice on this. |
