Hi, fellow dubber from over uk-mkivs.net Smile

Dads got a A4 2003 '8E' chassis code.

Problem is that alarm was going off when it felt like it...no hazard warning lights, just the siren beeping in the back of the car. Would even do it while driving, cars stood alone minding its own business. It usually turned off with the remote locking fine.

There was a fault code 01134 - Alarm horn (h12) no communications - kept coming straight back up. Had a google and this can sometimes be down to leaking batteries playing havoc with the siren module.

However today, (about 30mins ago) hazards started flashing but no siren. Set it up on computer and alarm triggered by bonnet, a couple of doors and the interior monitoring....No body has been around the car.....ALSO, it wouldnt allow the keys to unlock the car remotely; almost as if they need recoding to the car.

Tried to recode them with the door method and vagcom and it didnt even pick up either of the remotes with a known working battery in.

Fuses are fine for the central convenience.

Is it possible that the alarm siren has had a leaky battery, and chucked voltage up the communication wire to the control module (black box for remote locking/doors etc) to killed it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Chris

Have you looked in the siren? Leaking batteries are a common fault and would certainly point towards the issue's you've had.
