After nearly 6 years in my A4 1.9 TDI Avant and 80K miles (sold with 196K) it is time for something else..
So what has arrived: A6 2.7 V6 TDI SE Avant, 55 Reg, 94K
This is time to look back over my period of ownership of the A4. This was my first Audi and overall am very happy, even if it did not come cheap. I track nearly every penny I spent on my car and here it is broken down (quite a large number if you add it all up (numbers in GBP):
Fuel 9071 – 7620 litres - 47.33 MPG
Maintenance 6184
Insurance 2412
Tax 1203
Write off 4500
Assesories 1065
Total 24434
Miles done 79972
Per mile 30.06 pence per mile, not too bad I guess.
The maintenance bill is quite substantial, especially if I compare that to my old ZX in which I did 120K for just over 3 grand worth of maintenance. I still do some maintenance myself but the majority was done by the local indy. It includes all regular maintenances (oil + filter every 10K), brakes, tyres, battery, suspension arm & shocks, cambelt changes(twice) which includes damper for aux belt and waterpump. Wiper mechanism, radiator, aircon regass, the list goes on....
If you’re interested in the old one, it is now for sale: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201303045597634
So on this forum I used to spent most time on the A4 section, but I will now be focussing on the A6 section...
All the best |

Not missing the old one at all, as the new one is sooo much smoother , difference is day and night, in one word: AMAZING |

Hi Gareth
Any new owner of the 2000 one should be well pleased, like the owner of my old 2000 one was.
It does certainly make a BIG difference when you go to A6.
Best of luck and drive safely. Enjoy

Yeah some miles left in that old one, nothing realy wrong with it when I PX-ed it. It is still for sale I see, optimistic pricing I think and he replaced the nice 17" alloys I fitted with some ugly 16" from an A3 - does not look great imo.
Anyway, the "new" A6 is great, very smooth ride and such a lovely engine this V6
Done about 500 milse now and very happy - returning about 38mpg, not at all bad considering the size of the A6 and the V6 180BHP TDI engine.
Had a removeable towbar fitted today so I can tow my motorbike for the coming trackday season
Cheers |

Nice one Gareth.
If you've had a V6 diesel, you'll never go back to 4 cylinder! |
