Hi fellas, I've noticed the hood warning light on my cab seems to blink longer than usual when the ignition is turned on, it does go out after 10 blinks and the hood works fine, the warning light doesn't blink when operating the hood so all would appear well, i haven't used the car for 2 weeks and i don't know if it's my imagination or what but i don't remember it taking 8 seconds to go out. what's everyone elses blink time ?

Bruce,
Mine did exactly the same after I had a prob with the roof , it would flash exactly 10 times where as normally it would normally go out straight away , funny thing is 1 day it just stopped and went back to normal...figure that out

could you quickly answer a question for me??.....
what position is that light in the cluster?
under the autocheck is the block of 3 X 3 warning lamps, as you look at the cluster which one of these lights is for your roof operation? |

Thanks Pete, At least i'm not imagining it !! How long did it take to correct itself ? These hoods are really temperamental, think this has happened because last time i put the hood down the corner of the hood was nipped in the corner of the cover, i pulled the button pushed it back and then closed the hood cover, it seems if you don't go through the full cycle of up and down you stir up a whole mess of trouble, last time i had problems i couldn't open the boot, had to go through open close procedure twice before it corrected itself, mmmm, sometimes things can be too clever ! Still, at least it works, but like most Audi owners it bugs ya when things ain't quite right.

Mine just stopped doing it after a while , not sure why and I know what you mean about the hoods playing up , a lot of it is to do with the loom in the boot lid ....

Just a thought, does any one realy oil the hood mechanism? I lube mine often with a light oil, all the pivot points, latch, rollers etc in the windscreen frame. Do it to the current car and the last one I looked after. Up shot of this is I seen to get little problemswith the hoo, no squeaks and it operates quicker too! Wiping the shaft in the rams to keep them cl;ean is also a good idea!
Works for me. |

' Manual roof ' !!!! surely they are for 'manual workers', oh dear no, one could not be seen to be operating ones roof manually, the very idea !!! that Richard fellow will be suggesting we operate our windows manually next, bloody commoner ! i'll make a wager that fellow still has a water closet with a handle.
Only joshin Rich, Hi Pete, no, hood lamp still flashin for 10 secs, i think the phrase that springs to mind here is ' Discretion is the better part of valour'

i had a flashy light lastnight too ... but i guess that was my fault for owning a manual roof and not bothering to put the rear compartment down when i picked the wife up yesterday (oh the endless size of cabs, throw the bike in the back, i'll just put the roof down)
common is good buddy .... no one has any expectations of me |
