Motorsport debut for Audi RS 6
Florida-based Champion Racing will become the first team in the world to race Audi’s potent RS 6 quattro sedan. Michael Galati will bid for a third consecutive SPEED World Challenge GT title in the latest all-wheel-drive Audi while fellow American Randy Pobst joins the Audi Sport North America backed outfit for the 2003 season.
Champion Racing campaigned an all-wheel-drive Audi S4 “Competition” for the past three seasons but takes on the new bi-turbo, 4.2-liter V8-engined RS 6 “Competition” currently being built at its impressive Pompano Beach race facility in readiness for the season-opener at Sebring on March 14. In “standard” road-going guise, Audi’s latest four-door, performance sedan boasts 450hp.

Finnish driver Mika Salo completed his first test with the Audi R8 at Snetterton (England) on Monday. The former Formula One driver competes in the 12 Hours of Sebring and the Le Mans 24 Hour race for the Audi Sport UK team. “I hadn´t been to Snetterton for 13 years, it was cold and damp and I was driving a sports racing car for the first time – difficult conditions,” explained Salo. “But my first impressions of the Audi R8 are very favourable. The latest incarnation of the Audi Owners Club website, audifans.net may allready be too successful... The reasons? Simple. Within 2 weeks of going "live", over 200 registered users, 35,000 page views and a problem. Andy Bowskill, the nutter who set up and paid for the site, has found a problem- bandwidth. Current hosts supply 1Gb bandwidth per month, with more available at a cost........ To date (the 7th February) we have nearly used 1Gb! So. I'll take the plunge. If you want to help, and are interested in advertising on this site, please get in touch- because we've only just started!

We were right earlier this week....
Strong Audi teams in Le Mans and America

Infineon Team Joest and US-based Team ADT Champion Racing will contest the 2003 American Le Mans Series (ALMS). Frank Biela (Germany), three time Le Mans winner, and fellow countryman Marco Werner will drive for Reinhold Joest’s three time ALMS champion team (2000, 2001 and 2002). The new premium sports model in the compact class has now reached the starting line: Audi is launching its second-generation A3. With powerful four- and six-cylinder engines developing up to 177 kW (241 bhp), quattro drive, the new automatic-shift DSG sports gearbox and highly dynamic running gear, it offers all the driving pleasure suggested by the sporty lines of its body. The equipment and trim once again reach the exclusive standard in the compact class that is also typical of the larger models in the Audi range.
The new Audi A3 has every prospect of repeating the unique success of the previous A3 model. The second generation, with its distinct sporting character, highly advanced technologies and the most dynamic design of any car in its class, qualifies again for the pole position that went immediately to the first-generation A3 when it appeared in 1996.
One of the achievements of the previous A3 when it appeared was to define a new automobile segment. – the premium compact class – and then to dominate it until production ceased. The Audi A3 was always a leading competitor on the national and international scene: this was confirmed not only by the large number of awards it received but also by its sales figures.
