Pembo is rallying his "red arrow" series 3 Coupe quattro at the Promenade Stages - on Friday7th & Saturday 8th September - New Brighton, Wirral.

This is a general invite to anyone who would like to attend to spectate and support him and his 'Red Arrow' S2 at the Promenade Stages which is held on New Brighton Promenade on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th September.

The event will open on the Friday with scrutineering from 12:30 to 16:30 and then 90 cars (running in reverse seeding order!) from 17:30 to 22:00 will compete on the Friday evening in a 'Super Special Stage' format with two cars starting together and running an inner and outer loop with a 'crossover' so both cars complete the same stage and same distance. The whole stage is also floodlit from about 20:00 for the spectators to get great views of the action.

Access to the service area is also possible all evening.

The Saturday action runs from 08:15 to 18:00 and will have 10 different special stages on the closed public roads of New Brighton Promenade which includes plenty of tricky junctions, roundabouts and kerbs. 90 cars including several World Rally Cars will be competing in this unique UK event.

More details on www.walleseymc.com Entry £5 per car and those who attend on Friday get free admission on Saturday.

Good luck matey!- more details here: http://www.audifans.net/ftopict-38044-.html

2012 A3 3 door saloon Tfsi rear viewAt the end of July, we were fortunate to be invited to an Audi dealer event in Copenhagen & Sweden that was opened up to invited guests (http://www.audifans.net/article708.html ). The main purpose of the event was to “get to grips” with the new A3.

We were fortunate to spend some time with the car- not on a "press launch" route, but through Copenhagen, covering city, urban, rural & motorway, driving to just south of Malmo in Sweden and back.

Our verdict? Read on....

Audi SQ5 Tdi GrilleAudi innovate; typically backed up with motorsport success for a given technology that is being developed that will make it's way into road cars that "Joe Bloggs" can buy and drive. This, in turn, gives their marketing departments LOTS of "ammunition"- they bang the drum about quattro at any given opportunity- even if the parts departments fail to "pick up the mantle" supplying parts for cars that are over ten years old.
Audi started this in 1980 with the quattro system- and it took several years (some would say "too many") before quattro was available with a diesel engine- tending to be reserved for use in the higher performance cars- which in turn then spawned the S and -eventually- the RS models. The RS model was once akin to the "holy grail"- limited numbers, blistering performance and an enhanced specification package to suit. This has changed in recent years, with the RS models tending to be "all common and garden" vehicles- no limited runs, not limited to one particular body style, and losing that special appeal that ever more so justified the price tag increase over the "standard" performance S models.
