Audi clinch title at DTM comeback

Audi victory at Swedish finale

"Petit Le Mans” with two Audi R8 sports cars DTM: Audi managed to clinch the DTM title in the very first year of their works comeback in Europe’s most popular touring car series. With his fourth win of the season at the first appearance of the new DTM at Brno (CZ), Mattias Ekström secured the title already one race before the final round extending his lead to 20 points. Tom Kristensen completed the triumph with his second place giving Audi their third consecutive 1-2 victory. Together with Martin Tomczyk, Ekström also clinched the Teams’ title for Audi Sport Team Abt. Only the decision in the Manufacturers’ championship has to wait until the finale at Hockenheim on 3 October. Audi have taken the lead, nine points ahead of Mercedes-Benz.

STCC: With a win and a third place at the season’s finale at Mantorp Park, Fredrik Ekblom has clinched the third overall position for Audi in the Swedisch Touring Car Championship (STCC). It was the second victory of the year for Ekblom who started as the defending champion into this year’s season. The Swede fought his way through the field in the first heat making it to the front from fourth position on the starting grid. In the second race, he had to start from position six on the grid and fought his way to the podium with another strong performance.

ALMS: Last weekend, the Audi R8 celebrated its 50th victory in a sports car race. Next Saturday, Team ADT Champion Racing would like to give the world’s most successful sports car another triumph at Road Atlanta (USA). Up to now, the Audi R8 is undefeated at the "Petit Le Mans” race. For the first time, Team ADT Champion Racing competes in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) with two Audi R8 sports cars. JJ Lehto and Marco Werner, who already have clinched the Drivers’ championship, will be supported in the fight for the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ titles by Johnny Herbert and Pierre Kaffer.
