Thanks for the replies guys,

The problem was indeed the o2 sensor, or atleast replacing it cured it.
Car going great and an 8mpg improvement in fuel consumption.

Sorry for such a delay in replying, as it turns out, you where quit correct.
Such a relief, I removed the cam follower to the pump and all is quiet under the bonnet again.! Very Happy

Yep it is infact the heater wires for the o2 sensor.
I have not had the car up on a lift, but I had a new 02 sensor fitted when I had a cat bypass pipe fitted a few years b ...

Ok folks,

Bit of an update.

I have plugged the electrical connector back into the fuel pressure regulator.

I have found that the cold start valve has for some reason been getting a constant 1 ...

I would tend to agree, It is my belief that fluid change intervals should be atleast halved especially if you drive the car any faster than miss daisy! lol Laughing Wink
