Hi,

I own a 1985 GT5S coupe. I would like a nice boot installation but really have no idea where to start. I currently have an amp & cd changer which are both at the moment simply screwed to the underside of the parcel shelf - not what you would call impressive. I would be grateful for any suggestions/ ideas.

Thanks.

Hi,

The question to ask is how much do you wanna spend and what sort of music system do you want in your car...? How big is your amp?

In my 80 all I did was fit a big piece of MDF in the boot, covered it in black carpet secured the amp and bass box (2x 12" subs) and put a fancy fuse holder next to the amp... Doesn't look the t*ts but a better than them rolling around the in the boot. Total cost £30 plus 2-3 hours to fit it all...

Regards
Matt.

The amp I have in there is a Phoenix Gold 100w 2 channel amp so I'll presumably have to upgrade or get another to power a bass box. What I'm really wanting to do at the moment is basically tidy the boot out ie board it out or whatever you do to hide the spare wheel/ fuel tank etc. Is MDF the best way to go?

Cheers,

Hi,

In my opinion MDF is the quickest and cheapest way to do it coz it's so easy to work with. Homebase or B&Q will sell everything you need apart from the carpet. (I'd go to your local audio equipment dealer for the carpet)

With the Amp, dependant on what size sub/s you want, you will need to invest in a new one.

Regards
Matt.
