2.3 NG Cabriolet - Blows Fuse No4 constantly

Hi all, can anyone help? The car battery went totally flat, so called out RAC and they fitted a new one. Upto the battery going flat didn't have any problems, now the Fuse which controls radio, interior lights etc amongst other things blows as soon as you fit a replacement. Any suggestions where to start looking?

usually cigarette lighter or the rear number plate bulbs

Mike, thanks for the response, didn't realise the No Plate bulb was on the same fuse, I will check. I will also check the cigar lighter.

I suppose I'm going to need a shed load of 15a fuses and some time to isolate each item in turn until I can find whats causing the fuse to blow and all from a flat battery..........

try opening and closing the boot and re-check the fuse

Hi Mike, done all that and the fuse is fine, so obviously the fix was to let the electrical system dry out, although I've noticed two things, one whilst the cigarette lighter works (powers the satnav), it isn't lit so the bulb may have blown and secondly the Ariel no longer retracts automatically as it used to do (I can live with this for now).

So although the radio, interior lights, digital clock and mirrors now work, there's still more to do.

I know where you're coming from, each time you fix something, something else stops working, I swear to god the damn car is laughing at me whilst I put things right, although I can't complain, its got 90k on the clock and other than the annual MoT and service it hasn't cost me anything since 2007 when I bought it..
