Nothing to report on the TDi front, it's been off the road since June while I enjoyed the S2.
S2 goes into hibernation next month, TDi going for MOT end of this month and I'll hack it over the winter.

I've had zero time to do anything for the last 6 months, so no grab handle light thingies fitted or anything else on either car.

Illuminated love handles...............sound kinky Wink

Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing @ Eric & Jas. Bunch of dirty old men! lol

MOT passed Very Happy.

Didn't fail on anything......but, I did get a few jobs done before it was tested.

New front droplinks, two new front brakepipes, couple of inner CV boots, offside lower balljoint, offside top mount (strange, was brand new 12 months previous, as was the nearside but that's fine Confused)
inoperative rear foglight, traced to no power from the headlight stalk to the dash switch. Was an issue with the foam from hell under the fusebox.

Picker her up tomorrow afternoon, then it's straight to the post office to put 12 months tax on her.
REALLY looking forward to the fuel efficiency Laughing

Got a couple of ideas of some stuff to do over the winter months. Smile
Not put any SVO in her for a while. It went up in price to over the cost of a litre of diesel, which kinda defeated the purpose.
Everyone around me (and half my staff at work) have bloody pig flu at the minute, I wonder if I can get her running on snot??? Laughing

Yup, got a soft felt lined car cover, a new battery optimiser and she'll be all cosy in my dads garage until spring Wink

Stay with me here, there's a tale to tell.
Bro has four kids yeah? they wanted another. Number five is conceived.........................only five turns into six. Aye, I kid you not. Twins.

I'm still on two shifts, days and lates, but Paul is higher up than me and on normal office hours.
We now share cars whenever on days together and I've said the TDi will become the workhorse to help him out and keep the miles off his S2.

My S2 will be purely a toy over the summer months next year.

Yeah Owen. It's starting to go in the most common place. Where the corner of the bumper touches the front leading edge of the arch. Not a great deal, but enough to bug Paul.

Next weekend will see a bee-sting popped on the roof of the soot monster. The auto black aerial on there now is ok-ish, but I feel I might need to install a CB and start humming >>> THIS

Hmmmm, "Yoooh breaker one nine, this here is the rubber............sooty"

4 for sure good buddy! Laughing Laughing

Had to have one replaced on my old S2 for same reason. I'm sure Paul's will soon be looking superb again )still love that colour)

Sooty will look good with the bee-sting. I need to crack on and fit the electric aerial in mine. Must read back through your thread to see how you did yours Wink

Not going to get the beesting on today, just say managed to get the HID's in before the mist and fog was joined by heavy rain. Hey!! it's the weekend, my first off in a fortnight, it's got to rain hasn't it?? Evil or Very Mad Laughing

New and hopefully longer lasting HID kit bunged on the soot spewer.
Nice kit, well presented, looks to be great quality. It even has an instruction manual for those not familiar, written in english by an english person Laughing

Non of this confusion;

Quote:
"Place in the light bulb 120 manhole covers, and by ensuring that light bulb at the local and hole bulb lighter; washers. Into the lamp bulb and place the safety and security in the Spring Factory"

Confused Confused Laughing

See what it's like tomorrow for the beesting install.

@ Owen, they reckon H4 reflector HID's are getting better. As long as you buy a decent set.

@ Gompa, they came from www.HIDs4u.co.uk
I'm the same mate, tired of the cheapo sets from China (Apart from the first set I ever bought 4 years ago, they are still soldiering on well).
These are a bit dearer, but worth it for the warranty (2 year), a UK company who are at the end of the blower if something goes tits up.
Nice white light and they fire up beaitifully without any hassle. Beam pattern very well defined.
I got the H1 35W Pro Plus in 6000k.

Jase..

Just caught up with this thread Embarassed I spotted the ballast fro the HIDS4U at stanford hall and it didn't twig then, but I was looking into the exact same kits and weighing them up with the slightly more expensive "Max". I was going to ask you Jas if you had seen them and what your thoughts are on them, after reading this I have found most my answers Laughing Was it purely the cost as to the reason you went for the Plus or aren't the ultimates much different? Incidentaly, yours are a good £15-20 cheaper than the ones I saw Wink

Either way, as you now have experience with these same kits, any chance of helping me fit mine when I get them?

Hi Mate, good to catch up yesterday.
I went for the proPlus (35watt) rather than the proMax (55watt) just because I'd never had any problem with the light output amount from the 35watt-ers.
The Ultimate kits are for later cars that can struggle with HID's. Probably the CanBus cars from 2005 onwards.
Yeah, I'll fit it, piece of cake, can do em with my eyes shut these days.

Jase..

Likewise mate, like you couldn't believe it had been a year already Shock

This HID conversion has now got me really thinking. They now do a kit for H7 reflector lamps as well as the projectors. My H7 reflected lamps carry the main beams and the projectors are the headlights. Do you reckon it's worth getting a reflector kit and doing the main beams too? I can also do the fogs but i thinks thats going too far and I don't think I would have room for 6 ballasts in my engine bay Laughing let alone afford them all! They do a slim line ballast though Question but only in the 35w, i was more thinking of going 55w on the main beams Twisted Evil

Shame I can't get a discount either Laughing

The only problem is, once you have HID's on the dipped and on the mains, you then have no flash. Even if it'd work, HID ballasts don't like being powered on and off in such a short time, and it cuts the life of the ballast badly.
