Stupid bloody clowns who fitted that towbar Evil or Very Mad if I ever meet em, I'll stove that swan neck towball where the sun don't shine (although, hang on. I sold the swan neck, but I'm sure I'll find something)

Don't you just hate bodges?. Complete bloody hash of a setup.
Bumper cut, wiring a complete mess, steel bars wellied into bumper mount tubes and black silicone used to seal bolt holes.

All started off fairly well, but there was no way those steel box section tubes where coming out of the chassis. Not without ripping the bumper off.
Either side of the car has a tube where a bumper bracket slides into, the bumper is then mounted to the bracket. These clowns had hammered their steel box section into the tube.
I was irate at this point, so no pics as I didn't want to end up throwing the camera at it.
Similar system to my B4 80, the mounts on the bumper slide into the tubes in the chassis, here's a pic;

Now here is a pic of how my towbar looks;

Now imagine hammering those box sections into the chassis Evil or Very Mad Confused

So I sat back, had a smoke and rethink.
Ok, I'll pull the old lower trim off, remove the electrics and pull cabling through as far as I could and lop it off. I'd already got rid of the mess under the drivers shelf.
That left two towball mounts. Out came the trusty hacksaw and I cut em off. Ok, so I'm leaving a whopping big bar behind the bumper, only consolation is that if anyone goes into the back of me, they come off worse.
New trim bunged on and no more ugly work of the devil towbar thingy thing.

Longlife SS exhaust system made and sorted.

Opted to junk the cat, go from the downpipe back with slightly larger 60mm bore SS tubing (standard was 57mm), junk middle box and have just a rear box with twin slash cut 3.5" SS tailpipes.

Who would of thought you could get a "proper" 5cyl 10v warble on a derv burner.
Sounds bloody great, with a right bark when you want it too.
Surprisingly quiet on the motorway and a hell of a lot less intrusive than a petrol engine would be with the same setup.

Cost, £310..

I'll try and get a vid taken later and upload it to youtube.

(apologises for pic quality, my good camera was in the car, up in the air Rolling Eyes DOH.)

Pete welding up the main section;

Almost at the end;

Joint onto the downpipe;

Middle box gone;

Rear box;

Tailpipes;

Yep,looking good.Excuse my ignorance,but would removing the middle box alter anything other than the exhaust note?

Cheers,
Jas.

Less restriction = less back pressure = a bit more ooomph.
Give the turbo a bit more room to breath Wink

I reckon I've lowered spool of the turbo a couple hundred rpm down the rev range.
