After selling my first 'Beast' which was my lovely 1991 Audi 90 2.3E I have got hold of a A6 2.6 Avant C4. I intend to use it daily as well as tastefully modify it to bring it up to modern day looks but keeping it classic Audi charm.

Currently the list of jobs is a follows;

Replace both front wings as the rust monster has taken hold of them.
Fix the engine speed signal from the ECU to the aircon and instrument tacho.
Change the horrible 15inch wheels for something better.
Fix the exhaust as it leaks from the the new cat to the middle box.
Change the steering wheel to a Quattro/S6 sports wheel.
Clean up the paint work as there is a few scratches and peeling laquer.
Sort out the driver's seat foam bolster or replace all the seats with leather.
Sort out the crap front headlights with something brighter.
Give it a facelift and make it look mean.

Now I know my budget is small but I have the time and hopefully most the tools to do the majority of jobs.

If anyone has any ideas on how to improve the 'Beast' then please let me know.

Matt

Hi Matt,

Looking forward to watching this thread develop. Seems like you've got a lot of the same issues as I have with the Big Green Bus. Mine's about to get a Weitec suspension kit and a set of 17" S6 wheels.

Is it me or are C4 Avants 'bang on trend' right now?

Cheers

David

I think C4 Avants are great, lots of car for not a lot of money, just have to watch out for the odd lemon and the dreaded rust (like mine).

Well here are the pictures as promised.

She goes pretty well and still beats all the little boy racers around town in the Ford Fiestas and VW Polos so I am happy with it, but she is looking tired and abit old so a face lift and some TLC is in order for her (so is my wife but I dare don't tell her Twisted Evil )

Well done a few jobs on her recently, I did a homebrew black grille by stripping the chrome parts off, primed them then a few coats of Halfords satin black. Also I got some very cheap alloys and fitted them this morning. Slowly she is coming along, still have to replace the wings, sort out the paint work and fix the stupid engine rpm sensor.
