Just wanted to warn people fromusing the Audi specialist LION Garage in Loughborough

Took my 1992 Audi 80 2.8V6 in for a cam belt change. They also fitted a water pump.

Got it back and it was very noisy so returned and the guy said it was the tensioner and idler pulley and was normal for the mileage of the car.

So happily drove off.

Took it to my local garage who I trust to double check and he said the timing belt was dangerously tight and the tensioners/idler should have been changed as part of the recommended maintanace as per his timing belt bible.

Posted this in the tech forums and would you beleive two other people had bad experiances with the Lion Garage in Loughborough.

SO DONT USE THEM ANY BODY WHO MAY BE THINKING OF IT!!!!

For the sake of you car and your wallet!!

I have had to fork out again to have the timing belt changed by somebody I trust!

Cheers

Tony

You think that's bad?

The Audi delaers often do the same... and charge you double. Never used them, but at least they changed the water pump- they did it half right- more than most dealers do Shocked

Hi.
Appreciate this is a response to a v. old post (2003 vintage!) but I'd like to put the record straight OBO Lion Garage, Loughborough. I believe it's changed hands recently and the new team of Arthur and Ash certainly know their stuff. In fact I've only recently started using them after a similar horror story brought about by serious shortcomings of my local garage (details available on request!). They've sorted my car (A8 Sport D2) and it's now running better than ever, so my experience is 10/10.
From the link: (www.liongarage.co.uk) you'll see they belong to a group of four garages (Loughborough/Hinckley/Tamworth/Northampton) and are part of the Good Garages Scheme too. They tell you what's happening and why (rare) and nothing is too much trouble - Highly Recommended!! Idea
