Andy,
Some impressive detail there! Cool
This is actually very relevant to me at the moment......
My problem is that my alarm has a auto lock feature once you drive off, that i locks the doors, a good anti hijack feature especially for town and city driving these days; a feature i have had to disable unfortunately as even when unlocked from inside once the stopped, i can't get out of the car.
I was told i needed a new lock as it was worn or broken??
The only way to get out once the car when this happens is either repeated pushing and lifting the lock button, or opening the window and using the exterior handle.. Proper pita. All is fine if you don't lock the door tho? Has been a proper head scratcher.. But thanks to this article i feel confident enough to have a nosey when the car come back from the painters......providing there is a dry day in our future lol Wink
So thank you for the effort put into this article! Very Happy
Dan.

not seen the anti hijack feature- be interesting to see. Once the door card is off, you can usually work out what's doing what.

Be interesting to see how it works- I'm guessing some sort of change/ mod to the central locking- but it needs to know when you set off- hand brake release enable it? If so, can you not either isolate the "trigger"- depending on whether its "grounded" to activate, or the other way around- if it works from the handbrake....

It's not an Auto is it?

It is activated by pushing the brake pedal after the car is running 10 or 15 seconds,(spliced into brake light switch) so it was easy enough to deactivate, but its there and i would like it working. (first thing we do when starting these cars is to hit the brake to turn the auto check off anyway) It just activates the central locking, once the car is turned off it then opens the doors. Fairly simple. The problem is with the locking mechanism itself tho.........
My fear was starting to dismantle without any knowledge of that side of things..... Laughing
No manual m8!
