My latest toy (C4 A6 avant) has a poorly stereo. The head unit works fine, though I don't have any cassettes to put in it Very Happy it's a Sony XR-6559 and whilst I can't find any manuals I believe they were either OE or a dealer fit option.

It also has a 10 disc changer in the boot (CDX-U303) putting discs in this and asking it to play one gets me a beep and error code 99 on the LCD Sad

I've checked the connections on the changer - all is well, but not pulled the H/U out yet.

I don't really fancy putting all my CD's onto tape, so I either have to fix the changer or swap the head unit (and possibly changer too).

So questions:

Anyone know what Error 99 means on these units?

If I decide to replace the head unit with something a little more modern, then will I run into trouble with things like aeriel amps and non-standard wiring?

I understand finding speakers to fit these barges can be problematic too, but currently all 4 work, and don't fart, so that's a starting point..

Cheers..
