Front screen crack

I have a crack in my front screen, which at the moment does not fail in an MOT, but does not look good, so i was going to get it replaced through my insurance as it is covered by it for a small fee on top, but looking at it the chrome round the window could well be damaged when removing the window.
So has anyone here been in this situation so i have an idea what to say or listen out for when i phone the insurance company.

the chrome pieces are held on with screws and pop rivits. The windscreen company will remove them or if you dont trust them to do it you can remove them yourself.

There's an earlier thread on here where someone said they had great problems getting a company to replace their front screen because you need to replace the chrome surround and they are impossible to source, so good luck with this one matey
