A4 B5 radiator cooling fan

I have a 2000 A4 B5 Avant and I have never heard the electric radiator cooling fan cut in. On a hot day in traffic, the oil temp will climb to 105degrees and yet the fan does not cut in. Is this a problem and is there any way of testing the fan and the temperature it cuts in at?

Does the car have air con? does it work?

Yes the car has zircon which works fine.

Ok it was just a thought as the cooling fan I believe is on the same circuit as the air-con fan.
Test the fan at the rad switch.
