Bad starter 80

Hi all.
I have a 1990 2.0E with 156k on a 3A engine. The car starts from cold on the button but if I leave it after a run for a half hour or an hour or so it takes a good 30 seconds of turning over before it fires, embarrassing to say the least. It'll start okay when hot if I've only switched off for a couple of minutes, like waiting at a level crossing.
Your ideas please.

This is often leaky injectors or fuel pressure accumulator causing this. reason it starts from cold is that fumes evaporate over time. On a warm start, the fuel is still present resulting in too much fuel for starting.

Thanks, I'll look into that. There is a strong smell of fuel when I'm trying to start it, so not good!

Until you sort it, when starting have your foot to the floor on the accelerator until it starts. Evil or Very Mad
